THE SING-OFF, THE VOICE, AMERICAN IDOL: Catching up with some alums

I pretty much only watch competitive reality shows and I tend to get rather invested in the contestants.  There are some incredibly talented people showcasing their passions on these shows and I can’t get enough.

I wanted to take some time to highlight some former competitors from these shows who are currently releasing some amazing music and who I feel deserve a much larger audience.

The Sing-Off

NBC’s The Sing-Off is currently my favorite reality show and easily one of the most underrated.  This show sets itself apart from the other singing competitions because it features only a cappella groups.  Many of the groups from The Sing-Off are well known and appreciated within the a cappella community, but this is an entire genre that deserves to be heard by more of America.  Unfortunately, The Sing-Off underperformed this past season and NBC hasn’t announced whether or not it will be picked up for a fourth.  I certainly hope it is, but in the meantime, here are a few groups worth watching. DOCTOR WHO Comic Con Preview!

So at the Doctor Who panel at Comic Con today they released a new preview for the second half of season six and my brain exploded upon watching it. Kaboom.  No more brain.

But really, this looks amazing.  There’s Hitler, Silence, River, and Weeping Angels.  Not to mention the Doctor in a tux (more please!) and Craig from “The Lodger” making an appearance!!  We seriously have to wait? Patiently and everything?

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: The Top 10 Knock My Socks Off

First: CAT DEELEY IS EMMY NOMINATED!  FINALLY!  Okay, that’s done.

This was easily my favorite episode so far this season.  It seemed like everyone was on their game including Neil Patrick Harris!!  NPH was an exceptional guest judge: he was entertaining but also critical and honest.  Jesse Tyler Ferguson (last week’s guest judge) is a super close second.

But as much as I love me some NPH, I’m here to watch and discuss dancing.  Let’s do this thing! Continue reading

RINGER First Look from Comic Con

You guys, I’d be excited for Sarah Michelle Gellar to be back on my TV in just about anything but I’m so glad her new show looks so freaking awesome!

The CW premiered a new extended preview for Ringer at Comic Con today and I couldn’t be more pumped. I’m going to let the preview speak for itself. Enjoy!

I can’t wait for September!

As Darren Criss, the guest mentor again this week, pointed out, “pairability” is not actually a word but it was a heck of a good episode.

The homework assignment was to sing “Need You Now” in predetermined couples.  This was easily the most awkward part of the episode and it was entirely because of Matheus and Alex.  They were just not believable in the least and I cringed whenever their parts came around.  I completely agreed with Darren’s decision to give it to Marissa with Samuel a close second.  Marissa’s actually getting some recognition, guys!  Continue reading

THE WALKING DEAD Season 2 Official Teaser Trailer

This is less a trailer in the traditional sense of “Here’s what’s coming up on the next season” and more like, “You LOVE zombies, remember?”

And yet, it works for me.  It definitely pumps me up for next season even without showing me anything plot-related.  Watch it below!

I really do love zombies.  Does it work for you?
